Working with Children
The Working with Children Check applies to all people seeking to work in child-related employment.
Child-related employment is any work (paid or unpaid) that involves direct contact with children whether supervised or unsupervised. Employment includes direct employees, sub-contractors, volunteers or whether an individual is undertaking practical training as part of an education or vocational course.
If the position being applied for has been identified as a child-related position, applicants will be required to complete the consent form at https://check.kids.nsw.gov.au/background-check-consent.php. The completed form is required to be attached to the application to allow a pre-employment check to be undertaken in accordance with the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998. A failure to provide this form will lead to delays and may disadvantage applicants. Applicants will also be required to meet a 100 point identification check by providing copies of documents as listed below.
Positions identified as being child-related at Botany Bay City Council include:
- Child Care Workers and related positions (eg community bus driver)
- Youth Workers
- Pool Lifeguards and Aquatic Centre Staff
