Foreshore Road Fencing

Work will soon commence on the removal and replacement of the timber post and wire mesh fence along the Foreshore Road boundary of the Botany Golf Course and Sir Joseph Banks Park.  The existing fence has reached the end of its serviceable life.  Several sections have been damaged by vehicles as there is no kerb installed along this road, posts have been burnt following spot fires, and mesh stolen.  The new fence will be black powder coated pipe with black PVC coated mesh infill.  The new fence will have a top rail and middle and bottom wire cables for strength.  Due to the amount of windblown litter and litter dropped from passing vehicles the mesh is needed to prevent the litter from entering the Council’s parkland.  To assist with re-establishing the fence contractors will also be on site to remove noxious weeds, particularly Boneseed, to ensure the new fence is appropriately located along the correct alignment.  Funding for this project was included in the 2015-16 Capital Works program and about half the boundary will be completed this year.
