The third and final special project undertaken by our City to commemorate the Centenary of ANZAC will take place at 9.15am on Friday 17 June 2016 at Dacey Gardens. This will include Commemorative Name Plaques for streets in Daceyville and Pagewood. Many will be aware that streets in Daceyville and Pagewood are generally named after prominent figures from the First World War. This project will help residents and visitors learn the stories behind the names.
Seventeen locations have been chosen and plaques are currently being installed. The event will also include a walking tour of local streets to inspect the plaques. Residents are welcome to attend.
After a wet and wild week for all of NSW, Council has been out and about the clean-up of our City. There were many trees and branches down on nature strips and in our parks and reserves. These were prioritised for removal by Council and either our staff or contractors have almost completed the clean-up works.
Despite our best endeavours beforehand in cleaning drains, pits and grates - the rain and wind combined with the king tide were too much to prevent flooding in some areas. If you still require help with any damage to your property or fallen trees, contact the SES on 132 500.
Unfortunately, due to the wild weather the Multicultural fair was cancelled on 4 June. Council is still planning on holding the event at a later date. I will inform residents through the Mayoral column once a date has been finalised.
