George Hanna Memorial Museum

The museum was established in 1995 and aims to provide a community centre for displaying, interpreting and conserving the local history of the City of Botany Bay. It is named in memory of Mr George Hanna, a former Mayor of Botany and a founding member of the Botany Historical Trust.

Each year the Museum develops several exhibitions. Exhibitions have covered the topics of sport, industry, market gardens, multiculturalism and Botany's fishing village.

The Museum participates in the National Trust Heritage Festival in April every year, hosts local community art shows and occasionally shows travelling displays from other venues. In 2003 the Museum developed a heritage tour of the area and this guide is available at the City of Botany Bay libraries.

The Museum is also collecting oral histories from local residents and workers. If you would like to register for this programme then please contact
