Botany Bay City Council takes pride in its commitment to, and engagement with, our business community. Our business community is diverse and ranges from small home based undertakings all the way through to major multi-national corporations.

The National Institute of Economic and Industry Research reports that the city is home to 62,445 jobs generating a Gross Regional Product of $8.93 billion. Council not only seeks to engage with existing businesses but is also proud of its ongoing commitment to assisting business start-ups and those seeking to grow their business.

The primary vehicle for this support has been through the Botany Bay Business Enterprise Centre. Originally established under Council’s auspices as the Botany Enterprise Development Agency, this was arguably the first business assistance agency of its kind established in Australia and was based on a business advisory and development model operating successfully in Britain. Its original charter is now reflected in some 150 business enterprise centres operating across Australia.

As well as providing business advisory services, the Centre is a member based organisation where local businesses of all sizes and types are provided with education and networking opportunities through attendance at events organised by the Centre.

Earlier this year Council reaffirmed its support for our local small business community by signing up to participate in the NSW Small Business Commissioner sponsored “Small Business Friendly Councils” Program.
