Discover Community History and Heritage

The Local Studies and History collections are specialised reference collections that help you discover and explore the rich history, geography and heritage of our City. From the crisp pages of local newspapers to our extensive physical collection, we have a vast array of fascinating information covering our rich and varied past.

The Heritage Librarian provides specialised help with enquiries regarding the history of the area. This includes the previous Council areas of Botany, North Botany and Mascot. We also carry out research into specific interest areas for upcoming exhibitions and projects, which currently includes World War I.

We manage Council’s archives and maintain a collection of resources of historical significance to the City of Botany Bay.

Depending upon the nature and time required to undertake specific research, fees may apply to these services.
