Take a glimpse into our past and discover its stories at our Museum

Did you know that one of Australia’s earliest zoos was here in Botany? The district has also been home to Australia’s first public housing estate and the southern hemisphere’s only mousetrap maker post WWII!

To discover local stories like these, make sure you regularly visit Council’s museum, located in Mascot Library. It holds two temporary, social history exhibitions a year, highlighting our district’s rich and varied history.

If you miss an exhibition, keep up-to-date via our History @ Bayside blog. To contribute your story, look out for our Morning at the Museum oral history events. Alternatively if you have photographs, objects or stories you would like to share contact our curator at museum@botanybay.nsw.gov.au
